Few veterans within electronic music boast the widespread appeal, respect, list of accolades and aliases as DJ and producer Sol Brothers. Considered by many to be a master of the craft across various forms of house music.
His position as Head of A&R for Strictly Rhythm / Ikonik is indicative of his ear for a tune and with over 20 years experience in production, remixing and performing all over the world, it is no secret that Galea is a true legend within the scene. From receiving “Best Band” at the Muzik Magazine Awards to being a nominee for “Best Newcomer Act” at the prestigious MOBOs, industry recognition and praise of his talent has been overwhelming over the last two decades. And with remixes completed for artists such as Rihanna and many others, it is evident that Sol Brothers versatility and skill as a producer is highly sought after from all corners of the music industry.
Until recently Sol Brothers most renowned work includes his ’95 chart-topping smash hit “Turn Me Out” with Cathy Brown with his productions receiving unwavering radio support from Pete Tong, Annie Mac, Danny Howard, and Kiss FM day time Playlists along with plays from Majestic,
Wideboys,Anton Powers,Sam Divine & Billy Da Kidd as well as live support from Alesso, Kryder, Slipmatt, Benny Benassi, Roger Sanchez, Bingo Players, David Penn, CID, Basement Jaxx, Oliver Heldens / Martin Garrix,Riva Starr , Wh0 to name just a few.
As well as regular weekly radio shows on Unity DAB, Regress Radio, Hot Radio, Mi-House Sol Brothers also took to the road wherever possible in 2021 and performed great DJ sets at events and festivals including Lakefest, Rise Up and Raver, Properfest and Café Mambo Ibiza (Castle Howard).
2021 was a huge year for Sol Brothers. Having signed his first two tracks of the year to young upstart record label Flipside Records, both tracks went straight to number 1 in the Music Week Upfront Dance Chart. The first, a fantastic remake of Break of Dawn (Suitcase at the Door) featuring the vocal talents of vocal diva Marcella Woods also featured on MTV, Radio 1, Kiss and Kiss Dance to name a few. The second, a wonderful original collaboration featuring the vocal talents of Damon C Scott (Storm Queen – Look Right Through) also featured on MTV, Radio 1, Kiss and Kiss Dance and was a big hit across the rest of Europe. In 2021 Sol Brothers produced original work and remixes with musical legends such as Sonique and Slipmatt as well as writing and producing more of his own material. His Spotify streams for 2021 hit 1.3 million and 2022 sees no sign of him slowing down with a great number of original tracks, collaborations and remixes ready for release…
